Beyond the Mobile of AI

This year's MWC Barcelona has left us with one certainty: it has been the least "mobile" Mobile World Congress in history. Technology has long been redefining traditional business paradigms, and the real and truly transversal rise of artificial intelligence is accelerating this transformation.

Since the end of 2022, when ChatGPT was introduced and shook up the world, we have fully entered the era of generative AI. A technology's disruptive power is confirmed when it achieves mass adoption and, in record time, starts changing our routines—from business processes and content creation to information retrieval and interpersonal interactions. We now talk about environments, tools, agents, and prompts the way we once talked about the latest apps, but with an extra layer of ambition: we are already trained in digitalization and transformation, both in our personal lives and in business.We’ll leave the geopolitical and socio-economic implications of this for another day and focus on its impact on business.

At this year's MWC, we moved beyond trends and marketing speech and saw firsthand how AI agents can solve complex problems by reasoning and planning, not just processing data. In just three years, we have reached a point where intelligent solutions (agents) can scale up and take on cognitive tasks, such as incident resolution, strategy design and execution, customer service improvement, and automated service contracting.

These AI agents are now capable of adapting to different scenarios and responding to an ever-changing market. The congress showcased mature AI agents that can generate temporary competitive advantages (everything in this era is temporary!), transforming entire companies and industries.


One major shift: voice interaction with AI agents is now a reality. This removes the knowledge barrier associated with prompting and the fear of not knowing how to use AI tools. Now, we can simply talk to them and ask, for example, for a personal assistant to book a hotel in Paris, find the cheapest flights, and plan a personalized weekend itinerary based on our interests. All hands-free, just by talking.

Beyond curiosity and personal applications, the true revolution of AI agents will take place in the business sector, where this level of automation will drive efficiency across all processes. Having custom AI agents, tailored to the specific needs of a company, is no longer just a use case—it’s a reality. These agents will help transform internal processes, from adapting documentation to different legal frameworks to real-time updates based on market fluctuations, summarizing documents, or even handling vacation requests automatically.

The AI business agent ecosystem that is emerging will reshape current enterprise architectures. The challenge is real, and companies must actively engage, participate, and build AI solutions tailored to their real-world needs.

Oh, and all of these AI agents can be developed using different AI ecosystems: OpenAI, Copilot, Gemini, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral.... The battle for dominant infrastructure is still wide open.


Exciting times are ahead for pioneers of new opportunities—times where the greatest risk is doing nothing.
